Mrs. Brahan earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Mississippi
with a major in Art Education and French. She received her certificate in Gifted
Education from Delta State University, the only college in the state to offer “Gifted”
education at that time.

Mrs. Brahan was hired by the Aberdeen School District for the 1984-85 school year
to implement one of the first Gifted Art Programs in the state. She had written the
proposal for the North Panola School District in 1980 and taught Gifted Art there in
Grades 2-8 for two years before her husband was offered a job in Aberdeen.

Mrs. Brahan officially retired with 35 years of experience in May of 2016. She
taught the Artistically Gifted Program every year, grades 6-12. She also taught
French I and French II for four years. She taught Gifted Art, grades 6-12, and Art I
for the last ten years before retirement.

Mrs. Brahan has been teaching Artistically Gifted Students two days a week at BSMS
for the last two years. She and her husband live in Aberdeen. They have a son and a
daughter who lives in Aberdeen, and a daughter who lives in Nashville.
