Exciting things are taking flight at ASD! ✈️
Today, AHS student A. Lopez successfully conducted a preflight inspection and had the incredible opportunity to fly one of our aircraft as part of the ASD Honors Aviation II class. This hands-on experience is a powerful example of how we are preparing our students for high-demand, real-world careers.
We are proud to provide opportunities that inspire, challenge, and elevate our students to new heights. Be sure to check out the photos from today’s flight!

Raising the Bar: Understanding Mississippi’s Higher Accountability Standards
Mississippi has raised the bar for school and district academic performance. Starting with the 2025-26 school year, schools and districts must meet higher standards to earn each A-F letter grade. The Mississippi Department of Education has developed resources to help district leaders, families, community members, and media understand what has changed and why, and what to look for when school and district grades are released in fall 2026.

World Autism Awareness Day is observed annually on April 2nd to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for individuals on the autism spectrum. Wearing blue or participating in the “Light It Up Blue” campaign helps raise awareness and show support for the neurodiverse community.

🚨 District Closure Notice 🚨
Aberdeen School District will be closed on Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026.
Students will return to learn on Tuesday, April 7, and all schools and district offices will resume normal operations.

This morning, Aberdeen High School juniors and seniors heard an important message as State Troopers and special guests spoke about the risks that come with prom season and this time of year for teen drivers.
The initiative, “PROM: Please Return On Monday,” serves as a powerful reminder, make safe choices, look out for one another, and ensure everyone makes it back safely.

BSMS Scholars Compete at 2026 TSA State Competition
BSMS TSA members Whitley, Johnson, Walker, Gunn, Riddle, Hazzle, and Howard are representing our district in Jackson at the 2026 TSA State Competition, held March 25–26.
These scholars are competing alongside middle school students from across the state in a variety of events, including Audio Podcast, Career Preparation, Coding, Cybersecurity, Digital Photography, Medical Technology, Promotional Marketing, and Problem Solving.
We are proud of our Bulldawgs as they showcase their skills, creativity, and dedication on the state level!
