🌧️ Weather Update for Aberdeen School District Families and Staff 🌧️ As we all know, weather conditions can change rapidly. With winter weather forecasted later this week, the leadership team at Aberdeen School District is taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families. We are closely monitoring the situation, consulting with the National Weather Service, collaborating with local officials, and evaluating road conditions to make informed decisions regarding school schedules. Here’s what we evaluate when making weather-related decisions: - Road conditions to determine if buses and cars can travel safely - Current accumulation of snow or ice - Rate and expected duration of precipitation - Parking lot and sidewalk conditions at our schools - Weather predictions and advisories from the National Weather Service When will you know? We understand that families need timely updates to make necessary arrangements. If changes to the school schedule are required, we will notify families and staff as early as possible—either by 7:00 p.m. the night before or by 6:00 a.m. the following morning if a decision needs to be made overnight. How will you find out? Congratulations to the Aberdeen School District for receiving $6,500.00 from the McFarlane Grant through the CREATE Foundation. "A portion of the funding will be utilized for the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council to promote leadership opportunities and to travel to colleges and universities to expose our students to how to prepare for the next level and to make sure they are college and career-ready," said district Superintendent of Schools Dr. Andrea Pastchal-Smith. Aberdeen High School Principal Tracy Fair said some of the funding would be used for campus beautification projects lined up for 12th graders. AHS will also use a portion for student incentives to increase academic growth and for opportunities for students to attend workshops to build leadership skills.
