Coach Edward Townsel

Aberdeen High School is excited to announce the hiring of Coach Edward Townsel as the new Head Coach of both the Aberdeen High Boys' and Girls' Basketball programs. Townsel brings over 8 years of coaching experience to AHS. He joins us after a stint at Starkville High School as the Assistant Boys' Basketball Coach during what has been the program's most successful seasons in school history. During this tenure, Townsel’s teams have been to 3 state championships and won 2 of them.

In addition to his coaching experience, Coach Edward Townsel is an accomplished educator and leader. Townsel has been part of a staff that graduated 100% of the team's student-athletes.

We are pleased and excited to have Coach Townsel working with our basketball programs. His breadth of knowledge, experience, and personable demeanor will be a very positive influence on the players in the program and the students in our school. We look forward to what we believe to be great things at Aberdeen High.

From Coach Townsel:

"I have been an assistant basketball coach at Starkville High School for 8 years one of the most successful basketball programs in the state under one of the Goats of high school basketball Greg Carter and Woodie Howard. It’s an honor and privilege to be chosen as Head Coach of the Aberdeen High School boys and girls basketball team. A place that I always knew to have the most competitive student-athletes and enthusiastic fans around the GTA. This will be a very fun experience of bringing Aberdeen Basketball back to the winning ways. My vision is to create an environment and atmosphere where our players have a better chance at being successful in life by being a part of our program. They will learn about having fun, having compassion for each other, how to compete, and trusting each other.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me."
