Graduation Rate

There are moments when the numbers tell a powerful story, and this is one of them.

The Mississippi Department of Education recently announced that the state’s 2024–2025 graduation rate has reached 90.8%, surpassing the national average of 86.6%. At the same time, the statewide dropout rate has dropped to 7%, reflecting meaningful progress across Mississippi.

And right here at home, The Aberdeen School District is leading the way.

Aberdeen ranks #6 in the entire state for the highest graduation rate and #4 in Mississippi for the lowest dropout rate.

Let that sink in.

In a state that is already outperforming the national average, Aberdeen stands among the very best.

Excellence Is No Accident

Achievements like this don’t happen by chance. They are built over time, through consistency, commitment, and a refusal to lower the bar.

Our district has long believed in setting high expectations and standing firmly behind them. Graduation is not just a goal; it is an expectation. Finishing strong is not optional; it is the standard.

These rankings reflect:

  • Strong leadership that keeps student success at the center

  • Teachers who show up every day prepared, focused, and committed

  • Support staff who ensure students have what they need to succeed

  • Families who reinforce the importance of education at home

  • Students who rise to the challenge and stay the course

When a community pulls in the same direction, results follow.

A Tradition of Commitment, A Future of Opportunity

Aberdeen has always valued education. That commitment didn’t start this year, and it won’t end here. We are proud of the foundation laid by those who came before us, educators, administrators, parents, and community leaders who believed that our students deserved every opportunity to succeed.

Now, we build on that legacy.

Every student who walks across the graduation stage represents perseverance, discipline, and hope. They leave our schools prepared for college, careers, military service, and the responsibilities of adulthood. That speaks volumes about the strength of our district.

This Is Worth Celebrating

Aberdeen, this is something to celebrate.

Our scholars are crossing the stage ready for what’s next. Our district is proving that when expectations are high and support is strong, students rise.

We are not just keeping up.
We are leading.

And the work continues.

Because in Aberdeen School District, we believe every student can succeed, and we are committed to making sure they do.
