ABERDEEN – During a special-called meeting Sept. 28, the Aberdeen School Board approved a bid from Apple to provide devices to be used for a recording arts academy in the works at Aberdeen High School.

“This year is a planning year when we’re getting hardware in place,” said district superintendent Jeff Clay after the meeting.

The Apple products include MacBook Pros, Apple TVs, iMacs and iPads.

The district was awarded a Perkins Grant totaling $48,000 for the program, which will include lessons in for creating podcasts and filming athletics events to be streamed.

Clay expects for the program to begin during the ’22-’23 school year.
