Aberdeen School District Names Interim Superintendent
ABERDEEN, Miss. – The Aberdeen School District Board of Trustees has appointed Mr. Joseph Stone to serve as Interim Superintendent of the Aberdeen School District, effective July 7, 2026.
The Board made the appointment to ensure a smooth transition and continued leadership as the district prepares for the upcoming school year. As Interim Superintendent, Stone will oversee the district's daily operations while working closely with district administrators, faculty, staff, students, families, and the Board of Trustees.
"The Aberdeen School District remains committed to providing every student with a high-quality education in a safe and supportive learning environment," said Za'Narrious Graham, President of the Aberdeen School District Board of Trustees. "We are confident that Mr. Stone will provide steady leadership and continue the important work taking place throughout our district."
Mr. Stone has held numerous leadership positions throughout his career. His commitment to student success, staff development, and building strong school communities has earned the respect of colleagues throughout his career. Mr. Stone's wealth of knowledge and steady leadership will help ensure a seamless transition while the district continues to focus on academic excellence and preparing every student for success. During the interim appointment, the district will remain focused on academic excellence, student achievement, supporting employees, and strengthening partnerships with families and the community.

The Aberdeen School District is preparing to welcome students and staff for the 2026–2027 school year under the theme, "Lights, Camera, Bulldawgs: A Blockbuster Year Begins! Let's get to work!" District leaders remain committed to ensuring that teaching and learning continue without interruption throughout the leadership transition.
Additional information regarding the superintendent search process will be shared by the Aberdeen School District Board of Trustees as it becomes available.

The Aberdeen School District is excited to offer a FREE Aviation Camp for ASD students!
📅 Dates: June 22–25
⏰ Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
💲 Cost: Free of charge
🍽️ Lunch: Served daily at Aberdeen Elementary School
Open to 8th-12th graders only
🚌 Transportation Options
Participants may:
Arrive at Aberdeen High School before 8:00 a.m. to ride the bus to camp, or
Be picked up directly from their home by bus.
✅ Eligibility: Campers must be enrolled in the Aberdeen School District.

Today it begins: Aberdeen High School is having an Aviation Camp that begins today, June 22, 2026, (free of charge). Transportation will be available. Students will be transported from the high school to the Monroe County Airport for the camp. Lunch will also be provided at AES each day of the camp.
